Focus on Year 6

Over the course of the academic year, each of the classes in key stage two get the opportunity to take part in dance sessions on a Thursday morning in place of the normal swimming sessions.

The dance sessions are held at Danceworks in Frome, with sessions being led by Tiffany Lewis, who is the creative brain behind the wonderful ‘Hip-Hop’ performances that have entertained us all at Showcase each year.

Dance enables young people to gain artistic skills and discipline, as well as developing their ability in physical interaction, team working, problem solving, observing, evaluating, verbal and non-verbal communication.

The dance sessions are always incredibly popular and this half-term it is the turn of the Eagles to learn and express themselves through the medium of dance.

As part of their dance syllabus the class have been learning basic steps in order to combine and create their own routines – with a focus on collaboration and supporting each other to be able to express themselves in a positive manner.

Over the course of the next few weeks the Eagles will continue to gain the physical and mental wellbeing benefits associated with Dance while completing their learning and just as importantly they will be enjoying themselves while doing so.
