Focus on Online Safety

This week we had workshops across the school, funded by the Springmead School Association and run by Edward Oleszko,  from South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) supporting the children to think for themselves, through their own experiences, about ways to stay safe online.  These were engaging and fun sessions with a serious message.

Children, younger than ever before are engaging with social media, video sharing platforms and online gaming in an unregulated virtual world.  The Online Safety Bill, going through Parliament at the moment, will take a small step in influencing how our children access the web when it finally goes through, but until then it is up to parents supported by schools, to implement safeguards for children.  Protecting children’s childhoods is paramount – be absolutely aware of what your child is experiencing when they log in.
