As it gets closer to the end of the first half term, I’ve been thinking about the busy time we’ve had here at Springmead. I didn’t join the school until January last year so it has been lovely for me to experience the Autumn term and everything that involves!
I have been blown away by the dedication of both the staff and pupils at creating such special memories within the school and the build-up to Showcase is a perfect example of that.
It is such a fantastic opportunity for them to ‘showcase’ their talent and build their confidence in performing in front of an audience. As a musician, I think this is such an important skill to have and is something that they will be able to carry with them throughout Secondary school and into adulthood! My fondest memories of primary school are school shows and musical performances so I’m sure the children of Springmead will keep those memories too.
This term has also included our first Go Explore session in year 4! Outdoor learning is another area that I feel Springmead particularly excels in and is such a wonderful way for children to experience the environment around us whilst linking it in to what they are learning within the classroom. The Squirrels headed out for Go Explore last week and being from Wales I certainly didn’t let the rain put us off! The children all really enjoyed it and it was a fantastic way to link our science topic into something more practical. There have been many exciting things that I have been able to experience with my class during the first half term; poetry competitions, Harvest and school trips to Bath to name but a few. I am very much looking forward to seeing what the next half term at Springmead brings.
