The Nursery

Nursery School provides a happy and gentle introduction to our youngest pupils and we are justifiably proud of our ‘Excellent’ grade in all areas in our most recent ISI report -May 2015

Our self-contained, purpose designed Nursery provides the children with an environment which is secure, bright, happy and stimulating. The Nursery children are led by fully qualified practitioners.

The indoor space is separated into activity areas, whilst the attached, garden area provides an ideal space for exploration outside, this is in addition to use of our large playground, lawned area, playing field, wildlife area and beautiful village location!

Children learn through exciting and stimulating themes that incorporate the seven areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

This curriculum encompasses the prime areas of development: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language and physical development.  The specific areas of development grow out of the prime areas.   They include essential skills and knowledge for children to participate successfully in society; literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.  The key principles which underpin the curriculum is the belief that each child is unique, positive relationships are crucial and that the provision is enabling.  For more information on the Early Years Foundation Stage click here

A large proportion of children in the nursery move into our Pre-Preparatory department. Strong links between the departments ensure that the transition is calm and happy. Children in the Nursery frequently visit the Pre-Prep to utilise the School facilities, familiarise themselves with the environment, and are included in whole school events.

Children can join the term before their third birthday; we offer both full time and part time places.

Although the  nursery is termly, our Holiday Club is open all year round, except for one week at Christmas and Bank Holidays, for those parents who require additional care facilities. Please see our Wrap around care page.

Parent and Toddler and Baby Explore

To familiarise both child and parent to the nursery, once a child has been registered, we offer the opportunity for parents to attend a free parent and toddler session which runs alongside regular activities so that the child’s experience is ‘real’.

This session provides the parent with the opportunity to observe their child in the nursery environment and to ask the staff any questions, and importantly allows the child to know the nursery environment.  We also run a weekly Baby Explore session.  For more details please see our Baby Explore page.
