In our school we aim to provide a curriculum that is appropriate to the needs and abilities of all our children. We plan our teaching and learning in such a way that we enable each child to reach for the highest level of personal achievement. This helps to ensure that we recognise and support the needs of those children in our school who have been identified as ‘gifted, talented and able’ according to national guidelines.
The term ‘gifted and talented ’ refers to a child who excels in one or more specific fields, such as sport, music or an academic subject but may not necessarily perform at a high level across all areas of learning.
Some children join our school with a scholarship for ability in a particular area. We offer invitation extension clubs in English and Mathematics. These run alongside our personalised curriculum. Small class sizes ensure that needs are consistently met within the classroom. Please see our Gifted, Talented and Able Policy for further details.
