If the School is closed we will notify you by Parentmail and by telephoone.
It is always our intention to keep the school open; we have only closed for three days in the last ten years. On these occasions the roads around Beckington were just too dangerous, especially at the pick-up and drop-off points. Making the decision to stay open or closed during bad weather is incredibly difficult for us; what works for one family will not necessarily work for another! There are a few options to avoid the road incline, outside the pupils’ entrance, if roads are likely to be slippery:
- Park in the village centre and walk up the hill
- Park at the village hall and walk in
- Park on the Warminster Road near Sandy Lane and walk on the footpath
- Through the church yard
Please always make your own decisions about your individual and local circumstances. If the school is going to close, a member of staff will endeavour to ring you between 7:30am and 8:00am. We will also send a Parentmail email too.
Please note that it may also be necessary to close the school early if there is heavy snowfall during the day. In such situations it is important for our staff to be able to get home safely as well as our children, so we would encourage you to make provision for someone to collect your child if you are working away.
As well as enjoying the snow, if children cannot get into school please continue with homework, mental maths activities and reading. Links are available here
