Meet the Deputy Principal

sally-and-school-council-members-sep-18-016

I grew up in Bristol and I was the first teacher in my family: from as far back as my own secondary schooling I knew I wanted to teach  It took me a while to get to teaching though! Maths had always been my favourite subject and I left school with the intention of becoming an Accountant. I soon discovered it wasn’t for me – and moved on to work in administration at the University of West England. While there I took a qualification in business and finance: this was a much better job combining as it did maths and people.

However, at the age of twenty six, I realised it was time to fulfil my dream to teach and it was at Kingston University, where I studied primary education specialising in maths, that I met Madeleine and Steve Taylor.

After graduating I taught abroad at the International School in Tenerife where I met my husband to be. And the rest is history: with a couple of breaks when my two children were born, I have been teaching at Springmead since it opened.

Children learn best when they feel safe and supported and their individual talents are nurtured, valued and developed. What I am most enjoy in my role as Deputy Principal is being able to support all the children at Springmead – and further develop my relationships with the whole school community of parents and staff too. I look forward to sharing with you in Springmead’s bright future.
